Group HR Director

Are you an experienced HR Director with group exposure, a background of working across territories and experience of or a desire to operate at Board level? This role is key to the future development and growth of the business and therefore requires a forward thinking, innovative and flexible individual.

Due to retirement, we have an interesting opportunity in a leading clinical and commercial manufacturing organisation working as part of a global network. The role is based in Staffordshire and will have the support of an existing team. Some travel between sites on a local, national, and international level is essential. Due to the nature of this business the organisation has excelled and thrived during the pandemic and therefore this is a fantastic time to join and lead the team.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the Executive Leadership team and Site Management teams you will ensure staffing levels are maintained to meet business requirements, HR and training strategy as well as having the opportunity to operate at board level.


Main Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the US and European divisions to update on HR matters and to ensure successful implementation of Corporate policies.
  • Assist and support management with staff planning and staff resource requirements.
  • Monitor budgeted people costs and provide feedback and guidance to the Site Management Teams.
  • Monitor and control additional people and training cost requests which are outside approved budgets.
  • Oversee the planning and co-ordination of training requirements across the Group to ensure continuous development and improvement.
  • Oversee the review of employment benefits and occupational health provisions within the UK sites.
  • Provide staff and management teams with advice and guidance on employment law matters and Company HR procedures.
  • Oversee the recruitment, development and performance of staff within the Company to include the appropriate succession planning.
  • Monitor key performance indicators, including staff retention and absence, and provide advice, support and training to management to control acceptable levels.
  • Line management of Human Resource team members within the UK and European sites including recruitment, mentoring, coaching and training.
  • Understand and lead on all aspects of GDPR within the HR setting across the Group.


Experience Required

  • Extensive previous HR experience at a strategic level
  • You will demonstrate the ability to develop business objectives and partner our exec team and have previous experience of managing mergers and acquisitions.
  • Previous experience of providing HR management at international sites
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills


Qualifications Required

  • Educated to CIPD level 7 or equivalent
  • Chartered CIPD Membership at Member or Fellow level would be preferred
